- demo Windows Happy New Year 2016 by Cocoon [web]
- Pretty lukewarm in my opinion. Obviously excellent rendering tech but apart from the tunnel with spheres and the kaleidoscope (both of which I really like) I'm the content is not that interesting to me. Music is just there, nothing remarkable but not off putting either. Not a fan of the color grading, I've grown out of tinted blacks. It works if the goal is a legit film emulation which really isn't the case here. Cocoon obviously has a niche towards this style, but I'd still love to see what else this engine is capable of! :)

- Cool and all but please drop the anemic repeating midi note ("music") and use it the bytes to address the shortcomings in the rendering instead...

- demo Windows Way by Vaahtera & Brainstorm [web]
- Lyrics (as I'm hearing them):
Quote:Once more the secrets will dawn
A path from this forest's frontiers
The silence scorches me
Yet the path guides me further
To set out is to forgo
Step taken is to torch one's home
To give oneself to the icy gust
To move on waters without freezing
I sing against the wind
And quietly opens up
In front of my eyes, snow in grey
Not part of a state(?)
I'd be ready to forgo only if
I'd give up all, could I choose
To give oneself to the icy gust
To travel to the end of the road
To set out is to forgo
Step taken is to torch one's home
To give oneself to the icy gust
To move on waters without freezing
A nice folky tune (I'm suggesting also Sami Kukka to anyone interested in similar modern Finnish folk), though some more attention to the production side wouldn't have hurt the intelligibility. The graphical side is pretty lofi. It looks good, especially the colors and composition (a big part for me), but the bare clipped textures and movements with purely linear interpolation are a bit ascetic. The editing works for me though, just the right pace considering the audio side. It's not always pretty, but even when it's not, it works. - rulezadded on the 2016-01-10 18:18:43
- demo Windows Sceon
- Looks and sounds like a scrapped STS demo from 2005. I'm into goa/psy stuff but my senses of aesthetics weep at this.

- 32k Windows Starmap by Rebels
- Liked the first minute or so, from where it unfortunately it developed into something typical for rebels. I don't like the colors and additive blending at all. Pleasant albeit somewhat generic audio this time.

- 64k Windows fr-082: The Sphere by Farbrausch [web]
- I quite liked this actually, one of the best berotros I remember having seen. Surprisingly reminiscent of 90s 64k intros somehow :). Liked the blue middle segment the best.

- 64k Windows delight by Mercury [web]
- Superb lighting, lovely motion blur (looks and acts just like it should). The lighting even makes the teal-orange more than bearable in the beginning, but I don't like the hue-rotate colors that come later. Also nice to see (or not see?) less lofi-optical pp this time :). The scene is nice, and well animated. A less talented group wouldn't have had any idea how to use it properly, but this one does just the right things with it. I don't like the music unfortunately, mainly due to the annoying main instrument.

- Oh, I guess I'm just too used to having all possible administrative privileges on my computers then.

- The effect is there, but... the presentation seems like a prototype. Good effort but in the end not something I'd watch again.
